1. The Opportunity (The "Why")
Up to 45% of produce in Liberia is lost before reachining market due to extreme heat. This wastage drains farmer income and destabilizes food security. We bridge this gap with critical preservation tools.
The Solar-Safe Harvest Initiative
Reducing Post-Harvest Loss through Sustainable Cold-Storage and Climate-Smart Finance.
4. Target Impact
Serving 2,000+ farmers per location, we aim to reduce post-harvest waste by 40%. This results in a 30% average increase in household income and direct stabilization of local market food prices.
2. Technical Specifications
Each unit is a modular 20ft solar-powered cold room. Features include 24/7 autonomous power through high-efficiency arrays, IoT sensors for remote temperature monitoring, and grid-independent operation.
5. Implementation Roadmap (Pilot Phase)
- Phase 1: Location vetting and community engagement.
- Phase 2: Installation of the first 5 pilot containers.
- Phase 3: Impact assessment and preparation for country-wide scaling.
3. The "StartUps Resource" Business Model
We utilize a Pay-as-you-Store system for individuals and lease-to-own agreements for cooperatives. All models are backed by our climate-smart micro-loans to ensure zero financial barriers to entry.

Common Questions
Who can join these empowerment programs?
Our programs are designed for everyday Liberians—especially women, young entrepreneurs, and community groups looking for practical skills and support to grow their ideas.
Do I need to pay for training or workshops?
Most of our community workshops are free. For some advanced training programs, there may be a small fee to help cover materials, but we keep it very affordable for everyone.
Must I already be a client of StartUps Resource?
No. You do not need to have a loan or account with us to join our training sessions. We believe in building confidence and networks for all community members first.
Where are these programs held?
We hold sessions at our hub on Broad Street in Monrovia and also travel to community halls, market squares, and churches in rural areas to reach people where they are.
What languages are the sessions conducted in?
We speak plain English and Liberian English. When working in specific rural communities, we also provide translation into Kpelle, Bassa, or Vai to make sure no one is left behind.
Are there specific programs for young people?
Yes! Our 'Youth Start Lab' is specifically for young people under 30. It focuses on modern business skills, digital tools, and finding your first market opportunities.
Can community groups apply together?
Absolutely. We encourage 'Susu' groups, market circles, and farming cooperatives to join together so they can support each other long after the training ends.
How do I sign up for the next initiative?
The easiest way is to visit our office, call our support line, or speak with any StartUps Resource community officer in your local market area.
